USA, ca. 1990s. A striking studio ceramic urn by Florida potter John Tilton. Features hand thrown porcelain construction with a refined yet organic form. Finished with a matte crystalline glaze in various tones of jade and celadon green. Signed, and with an old collection acquisition number, the condition is mint.
Tilton discovered ceramics while a graduate student working towards a PhD in Mathematics at the University of Florida. Instead, he ultimately earned his MFA in Ceramics from the University of South Florida in 1972; however, that affinity towards precision clearly informs his work. Tilton has exhibited nationally and internationally, in both Europe and Asia.
