Thebes Stool No. 1
Thebes Stool No. 1
$900.00
USA, ca. 1920. An attractive Thebes Stool in the Egyptian Revival style made for the Larkin Company of Buffalo, NY. Features laminated bentwood top supported by ring-turned tapered legs in old finish. Inspired by the stools of ancient Egyptian royalty, this form was wildly popular during the Arts & Crafts movement.
Also known as the Larkin Soap Company, the business became a mail-order conglomerate that grew dramatically during the early 1900s. In 1903, Frank Lloyd Wright designed a five-story dark red brick building for the company’s administration that was unfortunately demolished in 1950.
Professionally refurbished, the condition is excellent.
Dimensions: 17.25” long x 17.25” wide x 14” high.
