Charles Eames LCW for Herman Miller
Charles Eames LCW for Herman Miller
USA, ca. 1950s. A second generation LCW (Lounge Chair, Wood Base) by Charles and Ray Eames. Originally designed in 1946, and manufactured by the Evans Molded Plywood Division, this example is from the first round produced by Herman Miller - as denoted by screw configuration to its underside and shape of original shock mount.
Born out of techniques used to create splints for the US Navy during WWII, the introduction of molded plywood dramatically changed the course of American furniture production. Features molded plywood construction finished in walnut veneer. Original shock mounts have been replaced and are ready for active use. A nice early model in overall excellent vintage condition.
