Mali, ca. mid 20th century. A chunky low stool most likely from the Dogon community. Hand carved from one piece of wood, it features a concave top supported by thick pedestal base. Simple geometric carrying handle enhances form and adds visual interest. Solid and sturdy with an attractive surface patina. Makes for a distinguished accent piece or side table.
