Don Shoemaker Cocobolo Bookends
Don Shoemaker Cocobolo Bookends
$575.00
Mexico, ca. 1960s. A large pair of heavy handmade bookends by Don Shoemaker for Señal. Each features solid cocobolo construction with minimalist organic design. Very similar to Brazilian rosewood, cocobolo exhibits dynamic graining - with this particular cut including a portion of dramatic live edge heartwood. An attractive addition to any desk or bookcase, the condition is excellent.
Falling in love with Mexico during his honeymoon, Shoemaker established his factory there in the 1950s. Eventually employing hundreds of skilled artisans, and providing a major economic lift to the town, Shoemaker’s modernist designs remain popular today.
Dimensions: 8" wide x 4" deep x 9.5" high.
