Fong Chow Studio Ceramic Vase

Fong Chow Studio Ceramic Vase

$975.00

USA, ca. 1950s. An unusual ceramic vase by Fong Chow (1923-2012) most likely made while he was chief designer at Glidden Pottery. Features tall earthenware construction with blue and turquoise glazes reminiscent of Chow’s Gulf Stream series. Inspired by Chinese ceramics from the Neolithic period to the 13th century, the decoration of his pieces was influenced by Chinese sculpture, calligraphy, and painting. Chow first studied ceramics at the Museum School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston - and would eventually become the curator of the Far Eastern Department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Condition is excellent.
