USA, ca. 1970s. An evocative black and white etching by contemporary American artist Robert Neffson. Features intricate line work depicting a picnic-in-the-park scene with enigmatic figures that recall late 19th century photography.
Born in New York in 1949, Neffson is best known for his photorealistic paintings, which are in major public and private collections. He has taught at institutions such as the DeCordova Museum and the Pratt Institute - and is represented by galleries in New York and London. While receiving both his BFA and MFA from Boston University, Neffson studied under Bay Area Figurative artist James Weeks and abstract expressionist Philip Guston.
An excellent example of Neffson’s early work that demonstrates significant technical mastery and Impressionist influence. Matted and framed, the piece is ready for display. Signed and numbered 15 of 60. Condition is excellent.
