Tlaquepaque Covered Bowl
Tlaquepaque Covered Bowl
$195.00
Mexico, ca. 1940s. A hand-painted Tlaquepaque serving dish with lid. Features charming Fantasia design of birds and flowers over black background. Named for the town of San Pedro Tlaquepaque, this type of pottery became a popular souvenir item in the 1920s and 1930s. Wonderfully folky and evocative, it is constructed of twice fired clay dipped in a lead oxide bath for its second high firing. Recommended for decorative use only. In very good vintage condition with appropriate signs of use. Item: 2618-1463.
