Japan, ca. mid 19th century. A cast bronze ceremonial hand mirror most likely from the late Edo period. Decorated with characters for good fortune and long life, as well as other auspicious symbols. A nearly identical mirror can befound in the collection of the British Museum. Bronze mirrors such as this were often given as wedding gifts or for the new year. Nicely cast, signed, and in overall excellent antique condition. Dimensions: 13.25” long x 9 3/8” wide x .25” high
