Italy, ca. 1980s. A large mixed-media abstract painting by Giulio Greco (b. 1949). Born in Salerno, Greco has pursued anthropological and mythical research of Cilento, which gives his paintings a certain mysterious flavor. Both primitive and contemporary, we rather like the atmospheric combination of canvas, cotton gauze, and layered paint. Subtle, textural, and in overall excellent vintage condition.
