USA, ca. 1960s. A large and rugged ashtray designed by David Gil for Bennington Pottery of Vermont. Features deep obsidian glaze in round form with clever crenelated ring. Originally intended for offices and institutions, this piece certainly harkens to smoke-filled rooms of the past. Great for incense, jewelry, or stylishly indulging a bad habit. Condition is excellent.
