USA, ca. 1990s. An intriguing sculpture from Thomas Buechner’s Heechee line for Vitrix Studio. Features handblown black glass construction with cascading ribbed swirl. Born in Manhattan in 1926, Buechner became the founding director of the Corning Museum of Glass, and later director of the Brooklyn Museum, where he oversaw a major transformation of its operation and displays. From 1973 to 1982, he served as the president of Steuben Glass. Buechner passed away in 2010. Signed and in excellent condition. Dimensions: 12” wide x 8.75” deep x 9.25” high.
