Finn Juhl Table Bench
Finn Juhl Table Bench
Denmark, ca. 1950s. A scarce and early coffee table or bench by Finn Juhl for Bovirke. Referred to as the Table Bench, it features a light and elegant design with a rectangular teak top supported by a tubular black enameled steel frame. Stylish brass rails not only enhance the form - but would also keep a removable cushion in place should one want to use the piece in foyer, at the foot of a bed, etc. Tubular teak feet add a sophisticated finishing touch.
Included in the large-scale exhibition called Design in Scandinavia, which Juhl curated, the Table Bench was part of the show that travelled to 22 North American cities between 1954 and 1957. Approximately 650,000 visitors attended the exhibit, which helped introduce the American market to the understated beauty of Scandinavian furniture, housewares, and decorative objects.
Professionally refurbished, retaining a warm patina to the teak and brass.
Dimensions: 44.25” long x 18” wide x 16.25” high.
