England, ca. 1930s. An impressive Art Deco bar cabinet attributed to Harry & Lou Epstein. Features high quality construction in bookmatched burled and figured walnut with mahogany secondary woods. Upper cabinet opens to reveal a mirrored backdrop for storing glassware and surface for mixing drinks. Lower cabinet contains original wood inserts to keep bottles and decanters in place - while shelves offer a convenient spot for trays, linens, etc. Unusual, useful, and handsomely constructed. Lightly refurbished to preserve patina, the condition is excellent.
Founded in East London in the 1890s, Epstein Furniture began producing Art Deco designs in the 1930s under Harry and Lou Epstein. Most pieces were custom-made and of extraordinarily high quality. During the height of their popularity, the company maintained showrooms in London, Manchester, and Glasgow.
Dimensions: 49.75" wide x 16.25" deep x 53" high; measures 77" wide when both cabinet doors are fully open.
