Pair of Bender Madsen & Larsen Teak Armchairs
Pair of Bender Madsen & Larsen Teak Armchairs
Denmark, ca. 1950s. A pair of handsome and versatile armchairs by Aksel Bender Madsen & Ejner Larsen for Willy Beck. Each features solid teak frames with sculptural flared arms. Accommodating wide seat and curved back have been freshly upholstered in a high quality light gray wool from Maharam. Attractive from all angles, these would be great as end chairs in a dining room, opposite a desk in a sophisticated office, or as occasional / overflow seating in a living room.
Designer and cabinetmaker Aksel Bender Madsen (1916 to 2000) created a number of now classic furniture designs beginning in the 1940s - through the 1960s. Often collaborating with his friend and business partner, Ejner Larsen (1917 to 1987), the duo is perhaps best known for their Metropolitan Chair, which was showcased at the Met’s 1960s exhibition The Arts of Denmark.
Professionally refinished, the condition is mint.
Dimensions: 25” wide x 20” deep x 31.5” high; 18” seat height.
