Pair of Gerrit Rietveld Style Lounge Chairs

Pair of Gerrit Rietveld Style Lounge Chairs
$3,200.00
USA, ca. 1980s. A fun and sculptural pair of lounge chairs modeled after Gerrit Rietveld’s Red and Blue Chair from 1917. Each features a blond maple frame with black lacquered seat and back. Acquired in New York City in the 1980s, it’s believed these were made by a young architect who took an interest in the Dutch De Stijl movement. Quite sturdy, we were drawn to the honest wear and striking two-tone finish. Interestingly, Rietveld’s original Red and Blue chair was constructed of unstained beech and was not painted its distinct colors until the early 1920s. Surprisingly comfortable with a great vibe.
Dimensions: 26.5” wide x 27” deep x 34” high; 13” seat height.
