USA, ca. late 1950s. A nice old MAX (Medium Arm X-Base) lounge chair by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller. Features Red Orange fiberglass shell supported by tubular steel zinc-plated legs with signature “dome of silence” feet. While labeled the MAX, this example actually has a very early H-base that replaced the cumbersome - and problematic - X-bases. These small changes are always interesting to us, as they show the commitment of Charles and Ray Eames to developing a consistently better product without compromising design integrity.
Great as an impromptu reading chair or accent piece. Overall very good vintage condition with attractive age-appropriate wear.
