First Generation Coconut Chair
First Generation Coconut Chair
$2,600.00
USA, ca. 1950s. A first generation Coconut Chair designed by George Nelson (and associates) for Herman Miller. Features early triangular steel frame supported by aluminum tripod base. As implied by the name, the chair resembles a chunk of coconut; however, it also brings to mind MIT’s Kresge Auditorium. While the original upholstery is gone, we rather like this piece in its current state. Makes for a comfortable basket for lounging - especially once loaded up with pillows, throws, etc. A striking geometric form with honest, soulful patina.
Dimensions: 41” wide x 31” deep x 31.5” high; 12” seat height.
