Set of 10 Morgantown Cobalt Goblets
USA, ca. 1930s or 1940s. A stunning set of ten large goblets in the Ritz pattern by Morgantown Glass Works. Finely executed, each features a dark cobalt blue bowl supported by signature clear “golf ball” stem with footed base. Great for water, iced tea, or cocktails, the condition is excellent.
Founded in 1899 in West Virginia, Morgantown Galss Works produced high quality hand blown and pressed glassware throughout the first half of the 20th century. By the 1920s, the company had become known for its array of rich colors. A favorite of the Kennedy White House, the company produced a line a lead crystal for the First Lady. After being sold to Fostoria Glass in 1965, Morgantown would cease production in 1971.
