Japan, ca. 1970s. A pair of Mashiko ware rice bowls by Ken Matsuzaki. After receiving a degree in Ceramic Art from the Tamagawa University School of Fine Arts in Tokyo, Matsuzaki apprenticed with Tatsuzo Shimaoka, whose influence can be seen in these early bowls. Each features pleasing glaze with subtle crane figure and impressed mark to underside. Matsuzaki’s work has been exhibited worldwide and is included in many permanent museum collections. Condition is excellent. Dimensions: 5.5” dimensions x 2.5” high (each).
