USA, ca. 1960s. An impactful acrylic painting by Nebraska artist Peter Hill. Features abstract expressionist composition in predominantly primary colors and white on black canvas, which creates an intriguing sense of depth. Hill received his BA from Albion College and his MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Though he considered himself a painter, Hill was experienced in drawing, printmaking, and sculpture. His work is included in the collections of the Sheldon Museum or Art, Joslyn Art Museum, and the Museum of Nebraska Art. Hill was a Professor of Art and Art History at the University of Nebraska at Omaha from 1958 to 2000.
Handsomely presented in a period aluminum frame by Robert Moore Kulicke, whose frames were widely used by abstract expressionist artists like Franz Kline and Robert Motherwell - as well as the MoMA.
Excellent vintage condition with great scale and movement. Signed and dated.
