England or France, ca. 19th century. A charming folk art watercolor of a young lady holding a mask. Most likely inspired by the popularity of masquerade balls during the period - and possibly copied from a well-known print at the time. Sensitively rendered, we were drawn to her mischievous look and the rather curious treatment of her hand. Housed in a period frame, which is most likely original. In overall very good antique condition.
