USA, ca. 1990s. A charming, hand-painted clay storyteller figure by Chrislyn Fragua from the Jemez Pueblo. Working in a traditional method, Fragua gathers clay and natural elements used for pigments from the hills of her homelands. A relatively recent form, the first storyteller doll was conceived of in 1964 to document the importance of oral tradition and tribal story-telling within Pueblo culture. Signed and in excellent vintage condition. Item: 2618-1470.
