USA, ca. 1970s. A finely executed pair of gilt-bronze relief medallions depicting Adam & Eve by Boston sculptor Lloyd Lillie (1932-1920). Signed, dated, and professionally framed. Lillie was an acclaimed sculptor whose work includes sculptures of John Adams, Abigail and John Quincy Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Booker T. Washington, and other major figures. Lillie’s biggest commission was “The First Wave” exhibited at the Women’s Rights National Historical Park in Seneca Falls, NY, which contains 20 life-size statues. He was a member of the Boston University faculty for 34 years and professor of art for 21 of them. Condition is excellent. Dimensions: 14” wide x 12”high x 1.5” deep. Item: 3131-8.
