Greece, ca. 1920s or 1930s. A stunning handmade blanket or carpet acquired as a wedding gift in the 1950s. Features boiled wool construction with various shades of burnt Sienna, rust and red. Traditionally used as a blanket during the cooler months, it is also sturdy enough to serve as an area rug in a bedroom or light traffic area. Wonderfully evocative with quite a bit of soul to it, this piece would also make an impactful wall hanging. In overall excellent vintage condition with hand sewn repairs.
