USA, ca. 1950s. A older version of the RAR chair, which stands for rocking armchair, rod base, designed by Charles & Ray Eames in 1948. Originally a prototype for MoMA’s International Competition for Low-Cost Furniture Design, the chairs has been in continuous production since 1950. Features elephant gray fiberglass shell with black metal and maple base. At some point, the exterior of the chair was painted, which adds an interesting contrast to the seat. In overall very good vintage condition with signs of use and enjoyment. Dimensions: 24.5” wide x 27” deep x 27” high; 15.5” seat height
