Czechoslovakia, ca. 1920s. Two sets of six dessert plates by Haas & Czjzek, Schlaggenwald. Each features porcelain construction with dramatic, hand-painted Orientalist motif. Tracing its origins back to 1792, Haas & Czjzek became Bohemia’s largest porcelain producer in the 19th century with both owners being awarded titles of nobility by the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The company was the first in Bohemia to establish a fund for the injured, widows and orphans, as well as a pension fund. Your strudel never had it sehr gut! Condition is overall excellent with subtle, age-appropriate wear to decoration. Dimensions: 8” diameter x .75” high
