Switzerland, ca. 1950s. A vibrant color lithograph by Hans Erni (1909-2015). Depicts an expressive owl in tones cream, brown, and green, and gray. A graphic designer, painter, illustrator, engraver and sculptor, Erni studied in Paris and Berlin during the early 1930s. The recipient of numerous prizes, including the UN Peace Medal, Erni’s works have been internationally exhibited. Prolific in his output, Erni produced over 300 poster designs, 200 book illustrations, and approximately 90 stamp designs. Signed and numbered in period frame with interesting De Cordova Museum label. Dimensions: 25.75” wide 23” high x 1.5” deep.
