USA, ca. 1950s or 1960s. An abstract acrylic on canvas painting by Ernest Cook. Born in 1910, Cook trained as a lawyer and saw active combat during World War II. After the war, he shifted careers and became a professional contractor involved with the building of Marcel Breuer homes. Cook studied with Morris Louis and might have even influenced the DC area artist’s own work. Punchy with strong color. Professionally mounted on new wood stretchers.
