Set of 8 Goodform Navy Chairs
Set of 8 Goodform Navy Chairs
$2,800.00
USA, ca. 1940s. A handsome set of eight original aluminum Navy chairs by GoodForm. First introduced by the General Fire Proofing Company of Youngstown, OH in 1931, this design has become a classic of American modernism. In 1944, the Electric Machine Equipment Company (Emeco) of Hanover, PA was contracted by the US Navy to produce their model 1006 chair for ships, military bases, etc. Identical to the GoodForm chair, the obvious design infringement went uncontested for the sake of the war effort. Originally from Fort Devens, MA this set has seen years of active service and as a result displays an appealing, honest patina. Sturdy and in overall excellent vintage condition. Dimensions: 16” wide x 18” deep x 34” high; 18.5” seat height.
