USA, ca. 1950s. A striking horse sculpture by Robert E. Kuhn (1917-2000). Feastures patinated bronze construction supported by a heavy stone base. Born in Michigan, Kuhn attended the Art Institute of Chicago and was hired by the Works Progress Administration during the Depression. He eventually moved to Mexico, where he learned to weld, and then made his way to Washington in the 1950s. In 1966, Kuhn relocated to the Shenandoah Valley where he became a recluse and stopped promoting his work commercially. Senstitively rendered with an intriguing texture. Artist’s signature to base. Condition is excellent.
