Finland, ca. 1970s. A large collection of Festivo candlesticks by Timo Sarpaneva (1926-2006) for Iittala. Launched in 1966, each features solid glass construction with an icy textured surface and undulating ribbed shape. Originally designed by Sarpaneva as a wine glass for himself - his goal was to be able to fit an entire bottle of wine into a single glass. (Now that’s our kind of guy!) He conceived of the candleholder after noticing extra base sections at the factory - and the form was born. Lovely and sculptural when grouped together. Most signed TS to underside. Condition is excellent.
