USA, ca. 1950s. A classic RAR chair, which stands for Rocking Armchair, Rod base. Originally designed by Charles & Ray Eames in 1948, this example dates to 1959. Conceived as a prototype for MoMA’s International Competition for Low-Cost Furniture Design, the chairs have become a favorite of furniture collectors. Features “tan dark” fiberglass shell with zinc-plated legs supported by maple runners. Condition is excellent.
