Italy, ca. 1950s. A rare and wonderful cocktail pitcher by Ernestine Cannon (1904-1969). Features glazed ceramic construction with pinched spout perfect for pouring libations. Playful ice cube and tong motif confirms the task at hand. Ernestine Virden-Cannon lived in Salerno during the Second World War, where she established her business in 1948 - largely in an attempt to create jobs amidst the outfall of the war. Working with Italian craftsmen, Cannon’s playful designs were a hit, and subsequently retailed by stores such as Neiman Marcus. Condition is excellent.
