Israel, ca. 1960s. A handsome pair of large table lamps designed by Elspeth Cohen for Lapid Pottery of Tel Aviv. Each features cylindrical ceramic construction with geometric decoration in brown, blue and white. Founded in 1944, Lapid created sophisticated, modernist items with a strong Scandinavian influence. However, their unique color palette and matte textures were clearly inspired by the archaeology of the dessert. Professionally rewired and fitted with new ivory linen shades. Condition is excellent. Dimensions: 8” diameter x 31” high (without shades) - shades measure 12” high x 16” diameter.
