Gino Hollander Nude Painting
Gino Hollander Nude Painting
USA, ca. 1975. An expressive oil on canvas painting by Gino Hollander (1924-2015). Born in New Jersey, Hollander served in the US Army’s Mountain Division Ski Troop and worked as a documentary filmmaker before turning to painting. Starting his own gallery on Bleeker Street in 1960, Hollander led a bold and outrageous life. From 1000-mile bicycle trips, running with the bulls in Pamplona, mingling with Jackson Pollock, and racing Steve McQueen, Hollander’s bio makes Hemingway seem like a kitten. Features an abstracted female nude in kneeling position with arms outstretched. A prolific and intriguing artist, Hollander’s work is in more than forty museum and public collections. Private collectors of his work included Jacqueline Kennedy, Norman Rockwell, Oscar de la Renta, Calvin Klein, and HRH Queen Sophia of Spain among others. Signed, dated, and in overall excellent vintage condition with period frame. Dimensions: 28.5” wide x 41.75” high x 1” deep.
