Mali, ca. 20th century. A carved wood granary door from the Dogon community. Originally intended the protect the window-like opening of a family’s grain storage building, these doors are traditionally decorated with symbolic signs of life, primordial beings, ancestors, and fertility. Features pleasing relief carving with warm surface patina. Condition is overall excellent. Dimensions: 20” wide x 25.5” high x 2.5” deep.
