USA, ca. 1970s. A large stoneware canister by Londa Weisman. Features cylindrical form with expertly incised contrasting stripes. Glazed interior is perfect for food storage. Would also make an intriguing vase with centerpiece bowl. Possesses great scale and a striking look. Signed and in excellent condition.

Living and working primarily in North Bennington, Vermont, Weisman earned her B.A. from Bennington College in 1967. She earned her master’s there in 1974. From 1967 to 1969, Weisman was Potter-in-Residence at Bennington Potters, where she created large one-of-a-kind planters and several designs for small factory production. In 1974, she established the Mechanic Street Pottery & Iron Works. Weisman has also fabricated architectural welding, custom steel furniture, and sizable sculptures.
