USA, ca. 1935-36. A framed lithograph by American artist Peter Hurd (1904-1984) titled Windmill Well at Night. Primarily a painter, Hurd’s work is strongly associated with the people and landscapes of New Mexico, where he lived from the 1930s. Hurd studied under N. C. Wyeth, and later married Henriette Wyeth, an accomplished painter in her own right. During WWII, Hurd served as a War Correspondent for Life Magazine. Signed in the plate. A nice bit of WPA era Americana in excellent vintage condition. Item: 1000-7536.
