Italy, ca. 1970s. A LC4 chaise lounge originally designed by Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, and Pierre Jeanneret in 1928. Labeled the “relaxing machine,” the chaise was designed to accommodate the natural curves of the human body in repose. The tubular chrome frame can be adjusted from upright sitting to fully reclined positions. Features black powder-coated metal base and cowhide upholstery all in excellent vintage condition. A prime example of the International Style’s approach to design, which utilized new materials and production methods. Included in MoMA’s permanent collection.
