Japan, ca. 1980s. A pair of maple Butterfly Stools designed by Sori Yanagi (1915-2011) for Tendo Mokko. Each features graceful, curving form executed in the pressed plywood technique of Charles and Ray Eames. Originally designed in 1954, the Butterfly Stool expresses the sophistication of Japanese modernism and is included in major collections such as the MoMA. Sculptural, symmetrical, and in overall excellent vintage condition. Branded Yanagi signature to underside. Dimensions: 17” wide x 12.5” deep x 15.5” high - 15” seat height. Item: 2253-202.
