Germany, ca. 1950s. A signed woodcut titled Mother with Child by Expressionist Carl Rabus (1898-1983). Rabus studied under Angelo Jank in Munich and worked as an illustration in Berlin during the late 1920s. He utilized woodcut and wood engraving techniques similar to Die Brücke circle of artists. Arrested by the Nazis multiple times, Rabus eventually married the photographer Erna Adler. Framed and in overall very good vintage condition. Dimensions: 10.25” wide x 12.25” high x. 5” deep.
