England, ca. 1930s. An intriguing pair of two Art Deco style occasional chairs. Each features a high back and one arm with curved front supported by tapered wood legs. Upholstered in fabulous 18th century verdure tapestry fragments, which are most likely of Flemish origins. With scenes of lush vegetation and allegorical figures, one can get lost in these for hours. Wonderfully evocative and old world, they are sure to become the focal point of any room. Backs upholstered in simple black wool. Rear legs have been notched to accommodate a baseboard and could be replaced if so desired. Sturdy and in overall very good antique condition with age appropriate wear. Dimensions: 33” wide x 22” deep x 34” high; 18” seat height.
