Alexander - The Man Who Knows

Alexander - The Man Who Knows

$1,600.00

USA, ca. 1915. An original one sheet lithographic poster of the magician Alexander (Claude Alexander Conlin, 1880-1954). Features a stylized portrait of Conlin as a fortune teller complete with feathered turban against a vibrant red background. An American spiritual author and vaudeville magician who focused on mentalism and psychic readings, Alexander’s life was suitably filled with mystery and intrigue. Some sources say he had 14 wives and participated in various criminal activities. Designing and printing his own posters, these were his primary source of advertising. Wonderfully graphic and evocative of a different time. Professionally framed, the condition is excellent. Includes a two-volume set by the mystic himself. Dimensions: 29.75” wide x 43.75” high x .5” deep.
